treats, treats and more treats!

Did you know it’s National Dessert Day? Thank goodness for social media or else how would we keep track of all these fabulous “holidays” ūüôā I’m currently trying to decide what to make later today but here are a few goodies that sound irresistible!

** These little chocolate salted shortbread bites sound so yummy!

** Caramel + apples + cheesecake? Has to be a winner in my book!

** I’m not a brownie lover (gasp! I know!) but blondies speak to me. These sound so so good. They might be the winner today as I bet I have all the ingredients!

** These are by far the BEST chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever made. Probably because it uses brown butter. Make these. Make these now! Also I can’t WAIT to get my hands on her new cookbook! The cake on the cover? Swoon.

Are you making anything for National Dessert Day?!

Happy Friday {ahem, Thursday…}

It’s my Friday today! Although I’ve been sick all week so technically I’ve had a week full of Fridays. Luckily I’m on the mend today because we are jetting off to San Francisco tomorrow for a 4 day getaway. I am so excited to explore a new city, especially this city since it is full of amazing food. Yep that’s right I’m excited about all the food. I have a list as long as my arm, no actually longer, of places that I want to eat. That would mean eating every hour during our 4 day getaway so I know we won’t hit everywhere but that also means we will have to go back. If you follow me on¬†Facebook¬†or Instagram expect a bazillion pictures because I’ve taken none this week and it’s making me nutty.

Have an fabulous places that we must eat at/drink at/see? Leave me a note! We only have set in stone plans for one night. Oh and plans to go to Tartine at least twice. Yep twice.

On another note…

I am intrigued by the blogging world. I am not an expert blogger, I post infrequently and it’s beyond random. I do however spend the first 20-30 minutes of my morning catching up on my reading via Google Reader. I enjoy reading a number of blogs and am fascinated by the projects other people complete, the photos that they take and the food that is made. I love it. I love how friendly everyone is and it’s fun to “catch up” with “my people” every morning. I’ve come to look forward to reading about everyones adventures. I recently emailed Jackie over at Marin Mama Cooks because she lives outside of San¬†Francisco¬†and I thought maybe she’d have some¬†recommendations¬†about where to visit while we were there. She sent me back the sweetest email and this further fueled my desire to continue to build my blog and maybe find some direction. Seriously, the people out there who are blogging are inspiring! If you haven’t met Jackie I¬†recommend¬†going to visit her blog and making some of her¬†recipes…they are delicious! I love that she posts a weekly menu, since I do the same thing at our house.

Want some more awesome blogs to check out? Below you’ll find a few of the ones that I visit every morning. {they have no idea who I am but I enjoy reading their blogs and finding new and delicious recipes to try out or learning new things.} Go give them some love!

—> Tracy over at Shutterbean takes gorgeous photos and her food looks delicious. I’m a new reader over there but I haven’t found something I don’t like yet. I can’t wait to break out our pannini press and try out some of her sandwiches. Have I mentioned how beautiful her photos are? The light is stunning. Go take a look yourself!

—> Taza over at Love Taza has the cutest family I have ever seen. I love looking at their beautiful pictures and making an ever growing list of places I need to eat at when I get back to New York City! Go take a peek, it’s a fun blog to look at!

—> April over at Life and Style of April Kennedy¬†blows me away. She is inspiring and I love reading her posts. She is fostering two of the cutest babies ever not to mention she already has two beautiful children. She is definitely a blogger I would love to meet in real life! I love reading about her experience with fostering babies, it is probably one of the hardest things someone could ever do!

—> Kristin over at Iowa Girl Eats is awesome! I love her recipes and that she’s also a midwestern girl. Her most recent post about Brownie Mix Truffles looks amazing and I need to find a reason to make them. She’s got a great recipe index with everything from sweets to healthy salads and in between. Go find something delicious to put on your dinner table.

My list of blogs is waaaaaaaaaaay longer than these 4 lovely ladies but I’ll share more in another post. perhaps it will be a weekly edition (or monthly knowing myself.)

Happy {almost} Friday! Enjoy your weekend

Hello Friday!

Happy Friday! An round up of a few things I’m loving this week. It’s supposed to be COLD here this weekend {think high of 20ňö!} but I’m looking forward to hitting Costco and spending the rest of the weekend hanging out at home and rooting for the Broncos and hoping for lots and lots of snow. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Have you heard of Becky Higgins and Project Life? I’ve been following her for a few years now but this is the first year I’m jumping in to scrapbook. I’m super excited, I used to LOVE scrap booking and am looking forward to this new way of doing things. I’d been holding out for the Seafoam edition and I got notice from Amazon that it shipped today. Yay! Go check out all her awesome products, she’s rolling out a ton more in May. I think this will be even more fun to do once we start a family but for now I’m looking forward to documenting our every day life and the fun things that we do. Plus it’s a great way to get all our pictures off my computer and printed! If you don’t want something that is quite so time consuming Shutterfly offers a few Project Life options as well! I made one for last year and I love it.

Have you heard of War Horse? It is playing here in Denver and we were lucky enough to score some free tickets courtesy of Yelp {yay for being an elite member!} for opening night. I truly wasn’t sure what I was going to think but I walked away from the show quite impressed. I won’t give anything away but the puppetry is incredible. If you have the opportunity to go see it, go!

I’ll leave you with this incredible looking treat. How awesome doe it look? I can’t wait until I find a reason to make it! Find the recipe here!

Enjoy your weekend! Hopefully I’ll have a Project Life sneak peek next week.

Recipe Roundup

I love cookbooks. I have a ton of them…some are very well loved and some have lots of pages marked but rarely get used. Why you ask? The internet. It is SO easy for me to search for a recipe and pull it up on my computer or iPad and just bring said device into the kitchen. I know I’m not the only one who is guilty of this. I try to use my cookbooks, I can’t stop wanting to buy cookbooks but I always seem to turn to my computer. How can you not though when there are so many awesome recipes out there? I read a bazillion blogs and have come to rely on some of them for my go to recipes. Do you have anywhere you rely on for tried and true recipes? Pinterest has also become a favorite tool. I can find delicious recipes all over the internet and then pin them onto specific boards and easily find them when I’m ready to make them.

Here are a few recipes I’ve rounded up that I’m hoping to make!

How delicious does this simple popcorn snack look? I love that she uses an air popper, if only I had room to store one…

These are just calling my name. Probably should try them out one weekend soon and serve them for football fun…I’m guessing they’d pair really well with an icy cold beer.

I know this HAS to be delicious. It comes from Bree over at Baked Bree and she is one of my go to blogs for recipes. Everything I’ve made from her recipes has been delicious.

I need to make these. Probably sooner rather than later. I’ve been eying them for YEARS. How delicious do these look?!

These seem like the perfect weeknight fall dinner. Paired with roasted veggies and brussel sprouts. Yup I said brussel sprouts–they’re delicious and probably deserve their own roundup!

And finally…I’ll be making this tonight! It’s cold and gloomy here today and it seems like the perfect meal to combat that. Yum. Pairing it with a crisp loaf of french bread and a nice green salad.
